Regular dental examinations are essential to maintaining good oral health, and at Richmond Dental, we are dedicated to providing thorough, personalised care during every check-up. A dental check-up, goes beyond just inspecting your teeth. It’s a comprehensive review of your mouth, gums, and overall oral health, helping us to identify any potential issues before they become serious problems.
During your dental examination, we conduct a thorough inspection of your mouth, teeth, and gums. The check-up includes a detailed evaluation of your teeth for signs of decay, cracks, or damage. Your gums will also be assessed for signs of gum disease, such as inflammation, bleeding, or recession. We also check for other issues that could affect your overall oral health, such as oral infections, abnormalities, or signs of conditions that might require attention.
In addition to the examination, we will discuss your general health since your last visit. Health conditions, medications, and lifestyle factors can all impact your oral health, so it's important to share any changes with us. If you’ve noticed any specific issues like tooth sensitivity, pain, or changes in your gums, let us know so we can address them during your appointment.
Your dental check-up also includes advice on how your diet, smoking, and drinking habits can affect your oral health. Sugary, acidic, or processed foods can contribute to tooth decay, while smoking can increase the risk of gum disease and oral cancer. We’ll offer guidance on how to make healthier choices to protect your teeth and gums, including recommendations for a balanced diet that supports strong, healthy teeth.
During your check-up, we provide advice on improving your oral hygiene routine. Proper brushing, flossing, and other habits are crucial for preventing issues like cavities and gum disease. We will discuss the best techniques for brushing and flossing and recommend suitable products that can improve your daily routine. By reinforcing the importance of good oral care, we help you maintain long-term oral health.
If any dental treatment is needed, we will explain all your options in detail, including the associated costs and any potential risks. We aim to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with the proposed treatment, so you can make the best decision for your oral health. Our goal is to provide transparent, clear information to help you feel confident in your dental care plan.
At the end of your dental examination, our dentists in Malvern will discuss when your next visit should be scheduled. Regular dental check-ups are generally recommended every six months, though the timing may vary based on your individual needs. We’ll also remind you of any follow-up treatments or procedures that may be necessary to keep your smile healthy.
