Dental Bridges

At Richmond Dental, we understand that missing teeth can impact both your smile and your ability to eat and speak comfortably. One solution to restore the function and appearance of your smile is a dental bridge. Dental bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that can replace one or more missing teeth, helping to restore your confidence and improve your oral health.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a custom-made device that fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It is anchored securely to the surrounding natural teeth, providing a stable and long-lasting solution. The bridge consists of a replacement tooth (or teeth) attached to crowns, which are placed on the adjacent healthy teeth. This creates a "bridge" over the gap, restoring your smile and confidence.

When Are Dental Bridges Recommended?

Dental bridges are typically recommended when one or more teeth are missing. If you have healthy teeth adjacent to the gap, a bridge can be an excellent way to restore the lost function and appearance of your mouth. Bridges can help with issues such as:

  • Difficulty chewing or speaking due to missing teeth
  • Shifting of surrounding teeth, which can lead to misalignment
  • Loss of facial structure, as gaps can cause your face to appear sunken or hollow

How Do Dental Bridges Work?

The process of getting a dental bridge begins with a consultation where our dental team will assess your oral health and discuss the best treatment options. We then work with a trusted local partner practice that specialises in creating and fitting dental bridges. They will take detailed impressions of your teeth to ensure a custom fit.

Once the bridge is crafted, the surrounding teeth are prepared, and the bridge is anchored to these teeth using dental crowns. The result is a secure, fixed prosthetic that seamlessly fills the gap left by the missing teeth.
